on starting - so often I work like this. I see something, I hear something, I read something on the Internet, something that interests me, that it makes my brain start to fire up a little bit, so I appropriate that imagery, and work up some drawings. Then I think about an artist that I know of that relates to the image or the idea and I look at some of their work for an approach, seems like a lot of times I end up with Lee Krasner or Jasper Johns, anyway, I then start layering that information, I add to and subtract and maybe not add to it aesthetically except in my mind, and play with the digital tricks that we have to make things be what they're not. That's a lot of fun. Next, I draw and paint on it and respond to the combination of information with my digital tools. Until I feel like it conveys my emotional intent accurately. The titles are important; they're clues to the music surrounding me.
